Dove e quando
Florence, Italy – Palazzo dei Congressi, Villa Vittoria
November 02-06, 2026
The European Space Weather Week (ESWW) is one of the leading annual international events dedicated to Space Weather and Space Climate. Originally established as a meeting point for the European scientific community, it has progressively developed into an international conference involving researchers, engineers and professionals from different scientific and technological sectors. The event promotes interdisciplinary collaboration and the exchange of knowledge among specialists in satellite operations, telecommunications, navigation, energy distribution, aviation and space weather services, as well as end users operating in fields such as transport safety, civil protection and scientific research. Its main objectives are to discuss recent scientific developments, investigate the effects of solar activity on Earth and technological infrastructures, and identify strategies to minimise potential risks. Particular attention is also devoted to innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, and their applications in space weather monitoring and forecasting.
The edition of ESWW2026 will be held in Florence (Italy), under the theme “Data-driven and physics-based cross-scale Space Weather and Space Climate”. This year's focus is on combining observational data and physical models to improve the understanding of space weather processes across different spatial and temporal scales. The topics addressed will range from large-scale solar phenomena, such as coronal mass ejections (CMEs), to smaller-scale mechanisms associated with energy dissipation in the solar wind and Earth's near-space environment. The conference will also highlight recent advances in machine learning and theoretical modelling, exploring their potential to improve the interpretation and prediction of space weather events.
The MIDA group will be present at the meeting in various roles:
- Michele Piana, E-SWAN organ - LOC chair - NOC member
- Sabrina Guastavino, LOC member
- Edoardo Legnaro, LOC member
- Anna Maria Massone, LOC member
