title: Mechanistic disease progression modelling
abstract: Mechanistic modelling offers a way to investigate the biological mechanisms that lead to the development and escalation of neurodegenerative disorders. I will provide an overview of what these mechanisms are and our understanding of them, with a focus on mechanistic modelling of misfolded protein propagation in Alzheimer's disease and its interaction with disease progression modelling. Finally, I will discuss the main strengths and limitations of the mechanistic modelling approach and, most importantly, what is still missing.
